New Year, New Friends
So it’s been about four and a half months in the program and we’ve revently come back from our Christmas holiday. And for me that was a much needed break – especially because it was summer back home in sunny Australia!
Of course the freezing cold and dark winters are tough in Denmark but there are also some unexpected challenges that took me by surprise. Challenges I didn’t think I would ever have to face such as missing family (a tough one given 10hr time difference and because I’m a mumma’s boy), adjusting to a new role in a new industry, adjusting to Danish work ethics and culture, adjusting to new friendships… So much change happening all at once!…and it can be totally overwhelming.
But fear not for there is light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve made some new friends within the IBT program – friends that I can rely on and trust. Because of them I really do feel like Denmark is my second home. Going out together and having as many laughs as we do certainly makes the weather and other challenges bearable. It really is a privilege to share these everyday things with new friends who are capable of changing your perspective of so many things. But I only realised this during my time off back home.
I miss my new friends in my new home in Aarhus and though it may be challenging it is super exciting and I’m ready to for any new experiences the IBT program has yet to offer in 2018.
Happy New Years!
