Start of an exciting new chapter
Hello future IBT applicants 😊
I am Jack from Ireland and I am writing to give you a small idea of my first two weeks as an IBT.
So, I arrived in Denmark a few days before the course began with my parents. We flew to Copenhagen and had an amazing trip from there to Brande, where we got to see some beautiful landscape as well as experiencing some authentic Danish hospitality.
Although I had spent a brief period of time in Denmark before when I was trying out for the program, I really did not get to see too much as it was mainly spent on BESTSELLER campus in rural Brande (which was awesome may I add) however this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this beautiful country.
During this short time I really got a sense of reassurance that I have made the right decision coming to Denmark to be an IBT with BESTSELLER. Since I have arrived everyone has been so warm and welcoming which came as such a pleasant surprise as I had a preconceived idea that a lot of Danes were very reserved and would be uncomfortable in opening up to me, but I can honestly say I could not have asked for a better welcome.
Although I am going to be living in Brande I have spent quite a bit of time in Aarhus as this is where we are based for our school period 1. It is such a beautiful city, with vibrant bars and cafes as well as buildings of great stature. The Bestseller offices in Aarhus itself is a sight to behold. A contemporary, bright and alluring building which would make anyone proud to work there.
As I am approaching the end of my first week of school I sit here feeling exhausted BUT in the best possible way, we have learned so much in such a short space of time! Our behaviour types, presentation skills and cultural differences just to name a few. Let me ensure you, the classes are not the conventional type at all!!! The teachers are incredibly enthusiastic and inspiring and they believe in ‘learning by doing’ which you will find out that in order to work for BESTSELLER, it is not just a saying but a philosophy we live by.
To conclude this first blog of mine I am going to tell you something that sums up my time with BESTSELLER so far. Today, we the IBT group of 2018 got to meet Anders Holch Povlsen, the owner and CEO of BESTSELLER. He spent an hour of his time getting to know us individually and also to welcome us into the company. For the man who is at the very top of this international company to take such an interest and show so much humility to a group of people only starting out on their own journeys really showed me what this company is all about … People.
I am so excited to share what comes next,
Until next time ✌
